    Invitation is one of functional texts which should be understood by students of high school. Functional text is one of three areas of learning English in high school curriculum. We often see or read invitation for birthday party, farewell party, engagement party, wedding party, anniversary, promotion, etc



What is actually an invitation ?

    Invitation is one of the functional texts which students of high schools should learn in the subject of English besides notice, brochure, advertisement, announcement, leaflet, pamphlet, memo, short message and others. Invitation is is a request, a solicitation, or an attempt to get another person to join you at a specific event. Invitation a text which containing a request, a solicitation, or an attempt a spoken or written request to somebody to do something or to go somewhere.



What is the purpose of Invation ?

    Based on the definition above, it can be concluded that the main purpose of an invitation is to invite someone or more to go to a place or to do something or ask someone to participate a particular even & activity.



Generic Structure of Invitation is :

In general, the generic of structure of inviation text is divided into 3 :
  1. Invitee ,  is a person who is invited to land by the possessor of the land as a member of the public or one who enters the land of another for the purpose of business dealings with the possessor of the land
  2. Body of invitation In the body of your letter, include the description of the occasion, the date and time of the function and the reason for the occasion, such as company grand opening, introduction to new staff member, etc.
  3. inviter  is someone that invites.

    Actually there are many kinds of invitation text, however, here we just focus on kinds of invitation card, and as we know there are also many kinds of invitation cards, some of them are:

Difference of invitation letter
    Invitation letter is divided into 2 :
  1. formal invitation letter is an official letter that is written to send out invitations to people either for business meetings, parties, or any event.

            Words that are often used in formal dialogues such as :
    • good morning, afternoon, night
    • could you help me ? 
    • see you tomorrow
    • is this your ? 
    • could you repeat it ?

            2. A Informal invitations is personal invitation given to a friend , family , 
            bestfriends , etc .

            Words that are often used in informal dialogue, for example:

Aulia      : Ah sorry, I have an appointment. I received a dinner invitation by Mr. Danu. He aksed me to come.

Dearni    : Oh okay no problem. Maybe in the next time ,
